Echoes of Impact

When I think back to 4th grade, I’ll never forget how much you changed things for us. We had a substitute for so long, and when you came in halfway through the year, it felt like you saved us. At first, we were all a little nervous because of your strong attitude, but it didn’t take long to see how much you cared and how engaging you were.
You taught us lessons that went beyond the classroom, especially in writing. Learning the importance of sequence and beginning, middle, and end has stuck with me all the way through to college, and I still use those strategies today.
Some of my favorite memories aren’t just about academics but the joy you brought to our class. I remember our end-of-the-year party in 2015 when we were all hitting the Quan, and Saturday school when you brought your daughter, we were so excited to meet her because you always talked about your children, and to us, it felt like meeting a celebrity. One of the most impactful experiences was the empathy video we created. My family and I still watch it on YouTube to this day. You gave me the longest part of the script, and I’ll never forget how special and proud that made me feel.
Those moments, big and small, are things I’ll always cherish. You weren’t just a teacher, you were someone who made a lasting impact on who I am today!
Kind regards,
Valeria Gonzalez, (Your 4th Grade Student in 2015!)

Misti has been an incredible influence in shaping and encouraging me as both an educator and a leader. The wisdom and skills she imparted have helped me become more efficient, more knowledgeable, and most importantly, remain anchored in what truly matters, our students. Even on the hardest days, when the workload felt overwhelming, Misti’s guidance reminded me to keep my focus where it belongs. Her support ensured that my actions never went unnoticed, and her encouragement pushed me to keep growing with purpose and resilience.

“To whole much is given, much is required” is something you said to me a few times and never has something stuck so much in my memory. I would randomly hear that quote in your voice throughout my years and it would remind me that if I wanted something, it would likely require me to give more of myself. It might require me to learn something else. It might require me to expand myself and step out of my comfort zone. I looked up to you and from afar, I still do. You helped shape me in my most formative years, when sometimes things were scary and you maybe had no clue. You were no nonsense but I also knew you loved big and hard and I knew you loved me. You made me comfortable with success in a way you may never have known. At this point in my life I’ve never related more to those beginning words. Thank you for being there for me and thank you for helping me find parts of myself that I didn’t think I could find. You are a rock to many, even from afar.

Elementary school is an important part of our lives, it's where you get to be a kid without any worries. I remember one time for class, her dad brought us the chocolate-covered marshmallow egg cartons and a pair of shoes for each kid.
She always tried to make class fun and entertaining while still having structure.
Everyday you walk in she would have music playing in the classroom with a smile on her face. There was another time where she brought me up to dance country music with her in front of the whole class its probably one of my favorite memories from school.
