From Winds of Change to Roots of Resilience: A Leadership Comeback Journey

Updated: Oct 1, 2025

The nail that sticks out gets hammered down. But here’s the thing: if you've ever dared to lead, speak truth, or simply live in your full self, you know what that hammer feels like. But if you’re that nail, maybe you’re not sticking out… you’re holding it together.

The Cost of Standing Out

Leadership isn’t about avoiding pressure, t’s about knowing where you stand when the pressure comes. Standing out invites friction, often from unexpected places. But acceptance isn’t the goal - alignment is. You don’t need to be liked by everyone; you need to be anchored.

Ask yourself: What am I standing for? Is it worth the hit? Because every swing can either flatten you… or forge you. Stand tall anyway. You weren’t made to blend in, you were made to build something stronger.

The Trees in the Biodome

There was once an experiment: scientists built a perfect biodome - ideal sunlight, water, soil. But as trees flourished, they began to fall. Why? No wind. Without resistance, their roots stayed shallow. Your challenges? They’re your wind. Not to hurt you, but to steady you.

When Life Breaks You Open

Divorce. Job loss. Death. These aren’t just hardships—they’re raw, real pushes toward deeper roots. You could shrink, hide, or blend in. But maybe you were made for more. I’ve lived too much, fought too hard, failed too loud to settle for shallow. I want to leave this life empty, poured out, rooted deep.

Give God a Little More Time

If you’re in a storm, listen closely: Don’t quit… give God a little more time. We live in a ‘now’ culture, hungry for answers. But often, delay isn’t denial, it’s divine positioning. Hold steady you might be closer than you think.

Closing Reflection

This week, reflect: Where am I being forged, not flattened?

What wind is growing my roots? And more than anything… what will I stand for?

You weren’t made for the dome - you were made for the deep.

The wind isn’t your enemy - it’s your builder. Let it work.
